Is a size 18 needle perfect for sewing terry fabric

On One Hand: Dimension 18 Is Too Big for Most Terry ClothA dimension 12 or 14 hook is fantastic for stitching most terry fabric black silk fitted sheets, especially terry fabric used for clothing. A level smaller sized needle may be required if stitching light terry cloth that's usually employed for baby clothes. The smallest needle that will permeate the material with no difficulty is ideal.

Alternatively: Size 18 May Be Required for Heavy Terry ClothIf you're dealing with particularly heavy terry cloth polyester filled pillows, or increasing up the levels, a dimension 18 needle may be the best option. Bathrobes and sewing on large towels need a heavier duty needle, like a dimension 18 that can effortlessly penetrate with the thick fabric.

Base LineA size 18 hook leaves openings that are too large in most weights of terry cloth, and a smaller sized hook is favored. Just like other fabrics, however, the option of the hook size depends upon the thickness of the fabric selected, along with a size 18 could be ideal if the terry fabric is heavy.
